Seton Hall upsets #20 USC

The 3-0 Seton Hall Pirates got 17 points on 7-17 shooting from guard Jeremy Hazell on Thursday night to upset the No. 20 ranked Trojans of Southern California. Eugene Harvey added 16 points, five assists and five rebounds off the bench along with John Garcia who chipped in with 11 points and a game high 18 rebounds.

Southern Cal suffers their first loss of the year falling to 2-1. The Trojans went into the half up 43-28, but only managed 18 second half points. Forward Taj Gibson was his team’s leading scorer with 19 points while also tying Pirate’s John Garcia’s mark with 18 rebounds.

Seton Hall got outrebounded (39-36), but it was the difference in steals (14-7) that edged this victory. The Pirates will look to keep the undefeated streak alive in this early part of the season when they take on the Fighting Blue Hens from Delaware December 29th.
