Jackson’s half courter lifts Cleveland State over #11 SyracuseIn the first 59 minutes and 57 seconds Cedric Jackson was held to 0-4 shooting beyond three point range. He ended up connecting on a three pointer before the game was over though. It was from 60 feet and it was the game winner.
Cleveland State used Jackson’s three pointer along with two other starters double digit scoring efforts to shock #11 Syracuse in the Carrier Dome 72-69 on Monday night. “I looked up to see if there was a chance but knew there wasn't enough time," Jackson said. "It was a prayer. It's not an everyday shot." “I have never been a part of one of those types of shots, I had my head down,” said Gary Waters, in his third year at Cleveland State. “I told my coaches we were headed for overtime. I didn't expect that to happen. Nobody in the house expected that to happen.” The Orange (9-1) suffered their first loss of the year, but got solid efforts from around the team. Paul Harris recorded a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds, Arinze Onuaku’s two of his seventeen points came on a second chance tip in before Jackson’s heave from 60 feet, Jonny Flynn added 16 points, four rebounds, five assists, and four steals, and Eric Devendorf had 17.
