Rutgers vs. Pitt PreviewOctober 16th 8:00 ET Line: Pitt – 5 ½
The 4-1 Scarlet Knights host the 5-1 Pitt Panthers in front of a Friday night national audience. The game is a pivotal matchup in the Big East. Pitt is coming off an impressive 24-21 win over UConn. Panthers QB Bill Stull has completed 66.7% of his passes with 13 TDs and only 3 interceptions. RB Dion Lewis has run for 738 yards and 7 TDS on the season and WR Jonathan Baldwin is also a threat. Pitt’s defense is solid but did give up a lot of yards through the air in an earlier contest vs. NC State. Rutgers will have to account for stud DE Greg Romeus who is a beast coming off the edge.
The Scarlet Knights look to extend their 4 game winning streak since their season opening loss to undefeated Cincinnati. Freshmen QB Tom Savage will have his hands full against the pressure of Pitt’s defense. WR Tim Brown will be a key factor in this game. He has had past success against the Panthers. Prediction: This should be a slug fest in what could be sloppy weather conditions. Rutgers will keep the game close but the pressure provided by Pitt’s pass rush will be the difference. Pitt 23 Rutgers 17
